Questions / Answers

Frequently asked.

Are anal toys safe?

Yes, when used correctly. Always choose a body-safe material (silicone, glass, stainless steel), always use a toy with a flared base, always use plenty of lube, and always go slowly. Never insert anything that could travel internally - this is the cardinal rule of the category.

What size should a beginner choose?

Start small - much smaller than you might expect. A slim tapered plug around 3 inches long and 1 inch at the widest point is a comfortable starting size for most people. Plug sets that include three graduated sizes let you work up over time. Going too big at the start often means a toy that does not get used.

Do I need special lube for anal play?

Yes, you need plenty of it. The anus does not self-lubricate, so adequate lube is essential. Silicone-based lube lasts longer and feels silkier (but cannot be used with silicone toys). Water-based lube works with all materials but may need topping up. Use generously - you can always wipe excess away.

How do I clean an anal toy?

Mild soap and warm water before and after every use. Silicone, glass and stainless steel are non-porous, so cleaning is straightforward. For deeper cleaning, 100 percent silicone (non-motorised) can be boiled for 5 minutes. Anal toys should never be shared between partners without proper cleaning, or used vaginally without thorough cleaning first.

What is the difference between anal beads and a plug?

A plug is a single tapered shape designed to be worn comfortably for an extended time. Beads are a string of graduated balls that are inserted slowly and either worn or withdrawn at a particular moment. They produce different sensations - plugs provide steady fullness; beads provide a wave-like sensation, particularly on withdrawal.
